Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand ~Isaiah 41:10
The state of our world has caused unbelievable concern and fear to permeate the hearts of many. Almost every day on Twitter, I speak with someone who is afraid or anxious about something. I started to wonder at what age do people begin to become afraid. Thus, I proceeded to ask several of my middle school students about fear and I received several different answers.
There was one student I was mentoring and when I asked him, “What are you afraid of?” He answered with a commanding tone in his voice, “Nothing, I’m not scared of anything and I never will be!”
Do you believe he was telling me the truth? If I am completely honest, I believe the majority of us are scared of something or someone. In fact, there are literally hundreds of different phobias.
There are specific phobias, which focus on one fear such as the fear of flying. There are social phobias like the fear of embarrassment or humiliation. And then there’s Agoraphobia—the mother of all phobias. This complex phobia is characterized by signs of anxiety in situations, such as public places, where the individual perceives the atmosphere to be dangerous.
Regardless of the fears you may have, the Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” If you really want to step into your calling and manifest your purpose, then you must choose not to allow fear to rule over you and to paralyze you. It is important for you to understand that:
Fear, worry, and anxiety are not from God. God has given you the power to overcome all of the negative forces coming against you!
The Bible says in Hebrews 11:27, it was by faith that Moses left Egypt. Let us think about this for a minute. Moses approached Pharaoh, the most powerful man in the world, and told him that he was taking his slave labor and leaving so that they could serve the God of Israel. Wow! Now, that is bold!
Do you want the same kind of boldness?
Are you ready to fulfill your destiny and take control of your own life?
You cannot let fear stop you from being who God destined you to be. When fear comes knocking at your door, you must answer it with faith. You must stay firmly rooted in Jesus and grounded in the truth of His words in order to be bold and courageous in the pursuit of your greatness. Remember, you are gifted. You are smart. God has qualified you. You can do it!

Say this Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today, I declare I will live by faith and not by fear. Help me not to be paralyzed by my fears, but when I am afraid, show me how to overcome anxiety, panic attacks, and worries. Help me trust in You so I can rest in the confidence that You are with me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
