Decide To Love Since God’s Love Never Fails

image

Let all that you do be done in love. ~1 Corinthians 16:14

Similar to prayer, I know there is no way I can write what I want to say about love in a few pages. To be honest, the richness and depth of love is more than a decision. Nevertheless, for the sake of today’s devotional, I will try to help you understand the significance of deciding to love.

Sooner or later, life will turn every individual upside down and topsy-turvy. However, one mishap, misstep, or mistake does not define an individual. Even though we make mistakes and fail, God’s love never fails. Absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of God: not death nor life, neither a messenger of Heaven nor a ruler of earth, not what happens today nor what may happen tomorrow, neither a power from on high nor a power from below, neither the thinkable nor unthinkable.

God’s love for us stands forever and that is just one reason, out of hundreds of reasons, why we must decide to love God and others with everything we have, with every fiber of our being.

Love is the foundation upon which everything else is established. Love is more than impulses, feelings, or passing desires. Love is the one virtue that ties everything together in unity. Love demands us to be kind and patient. Love demands a sacrifice. Love is a commitment.

Love is greater than faith and hope. Love is an unshakable intention, regardless of the cost. Truthfully, the only reason we can love God or anybody else is because God first loved us. He showed this love by creating us. Our Heavenly Father showed His love by sending Jesus Christ to earth to die for us. Therefore, love is putting another person’s interests ahead of our own.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”(John13:34)

Love is of God and God is love. As a matter of fact, everything God does is impelled and influenced by His love. His love surpasses all human knowledge, and it is challenging for any of us to grasp the width, length, height, and depth of God’s love. It is important for you to know that:

Jesus does not love you because of your character; He loves you because of His perfect character.

Jesus longs to have a loving relationship with you. His love goes beyond any human love you have ever experienced. If you decide to lean into the unconditional, unfailing, unbreakable love of Jesus Christ, your love will become patient and generous, just and forgiving. You will be able to overcome any betrayal, hurt, or crushing defeat. You will have an influence far greater than you could ever envision.

I would like you to spend the next few minutes reflecting on the role of love in your love life.

Whom do you have a difficult time loving?

Say this Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Today, I want to thank You that You are a loving, gracious God. Thank You that Your love is perfect, it never fails, and that nothing can separate me from Your love. Help me to love as You love. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can choose what is best because I don’t want to settle for less. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
