Chapter Ten
Ke’yoko hit the button on the garage door opener before pulling in. She shut the engine off and hit the close button before getting out of the car. She looked around as if somebody could have been watching. She then walked over to an old box of clothes and dug all the way to the bottom, pulling out about ten pictures. She flipped through the photos as if she hadn’t seen them a million times. Tears fell from her eyes as she slowly studied the flicks, studying everyone’s faces. She shook her head, lifted the clothes up, and placed the pictures back into their hiding place.
Ke’yoko wiped her eyes before walking into the house. She walked straight upstairs, removing her clothes at the same time. She walked into the en suite and turned the shower on. She finished removing the remainder of her clothes, reached into the linen closet, and grabbed a washcloth before stepping into the walk-in shower. She continued to cry as the water beat down on her weary body. She cried so hard she could barely breathe. Ke’yoko was tired, her nigga had finally risen, meaning she was sick and tired of everything. She thought about her life and how she wished it was different.
She was fed up. She couldn’t take it no more. She couldn’t take not being happy. The pictures flashing back into Ke’yoko’s mind, along with all the women she’d caught Ja’Rel cheating with, and especially her not being able to have children, was all coming out in her cry.
“Baby, you a’iiiight’?” Ja’Rel stuck his head in the bathroom and asked.
Ke’yoko quickly wiped her tears away. “Yeah, I’m good. Why you ask me that?” she asked, sounding all clogged up from crying.
“It sounded like you were in here cryin’,” he said.
“Naw, I was singin’,” she said, playing it off.
“Oh, shit. You might wanna keep ya day job,” Ja’Rel joked as he walked out of the bathroom.
“Forget you, nigga.” Ke’yoko laughed too, even though there was nothing to laugh about.
Ke’yoko finished washing up, got out of the shower, and walked into the bedroom. She looked at Ja’Rel. He was sitting up against the headboard, completely naked. The sight of him made her sick.
“Come sit on it,” he said, lifting his member up and stroking it.
“I’m kinda tired, Ja’Rel,” she said, not wanting to be bothered with him at all; and she continued finding something to put on.
“So you mean to tell me you gon’ pass up a chance to get some of this good dick?” he asked as he continued stroking until it became brick hard.
Even though Ke’yoko was mad at her husband, she wasn’t about to pass up a chance to bust a much-needed nut. She opened her bath towel and let it hit the floor.
“Oooooh, damn, baby,” Ja’Rel said, admiring his wife’s body. “Come here.”
Ke’yoko walked over to the bed, climbed in, and sat on her throne. She rode Ja’Rel as if her life depended on it, driving him wild. It didn’t take long for her to work her magic before Ja’Rel was about to bust.
“I’m ’bouta cum,” he moaned loudly.
“Let me get up,” Ke’yoko said, trying to get off of her husband’s manhood. She was at the point that having a child with Ja’Rel was the last thing she wanted.
“Nooooo,” he replied, holding her hips down, not allowing her to get off as he pumped vigorously.
“Let me up, Ja’Rel,” Ke’yoko said, fighting to get up.
“Not yet, ahhhhhh,” he said, busting all up inside of his wife’s wet cave.
“I told you to let me up,” Ke’yoko fussed, quickly climbing off her husband with an attitude. She hadn’t thought she would ever get to a point where she didn’t even want to have a baby by her husband. Sex was good with Ja’Rel, but she’d never been with anyone other than him to compare it. She was quite sure there had to be better out there and just maybe she should find out.
“Man, you was feelin’ too good,” he said as he jacked the remaining semen out of his member. “And, plus, I thought you was tryin’ to get pregnant.”
“I was, but I changed my mind,” she said, walking into the bathroom to wash up.
“Bring me a towel,” Ja’Rel yelled from the bedroom, too worn out to get out of bed. “And what made you change your mind?”
“I thought about what you said and I agree, it is too soon,” she said, walking back into the bedroom with a warm, soapy towel and handing it to Ja’Rel.
“It’s up to you, baby,” he said, laying the towel on his Johnson. “I wanna make you happy and if you’re not ready I can’t do nothin’ but respect it.” Ja’Rel finished wiping himself off and threw the wet towel on the nightstand.
“Thanks, but I’m good. It’ll happen when it’s supposed to,” Ke’yoko said as she slipped into some pajama bottoms and a T-shirt.
“Whatever makes you happy, baby,” Ja’Rel said, lying down. “Hand me my cell phone.”
As Ke’yoko picked the phone up off the dresser it began to ring. Ka’yah’s name popped up on the screen, and Ke’yoko got one of the biggest attitudes. Nadia’s and Ross’s comments popped into her head again. She wanted to split Ja’Rel’s head wide open with the phone but she tossed it on the bed instead.
“I’m goin’ to cook dinner,” Ke’yoko said.
“A’iiight, well, I’m about to take a nap,” Ja’Rel said while yawning and looking at the caller ID.
Ke’yoko looked at Ja’Rel and felt disgusted. She forced a fake smile and headed down to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
* * *
“I’m tellin’ you, Nadia, I’m starting to believe what you and Ross are sayin’ about Ka’yah and Ja’Rel,” Ke’yoko said, literally feeling sick to her stomach as she paced the kitchen floor.
“Girl, stop it! I keep tellin’ you I was sayin’ that bullshit outta anger. I don’t really think . . .” Nadia stopped in midsentence. “Hold up! Did you just say Ross?”
“Yes.” Ke’yoko smiled as she opened up the refrigerator to find something to cook. She was starving.
“Are you smilin’, bitch?” Nadia asked, hearing it in Ke’yoko’s voice.
“No,” Ke’yoko lied, while grabbing the ham and Miracle Whip out, and closing the refrigerator. She needed a quick snack before cooking dinner.
“Ummmm huh. And just when did you talk to Ross?” Nadia inquired.
“Damn, is this an interrogation?” Ke’yoko joked.
“You damn right it is!” Nadia laughed.
“Well, if you really must know, I ran into him about two weeks ago.” Ke’yoko continued to smile as she grabbed the bread and fixed herself two sandwiches.
“Bitch, you still smilin’?” Nadia asked, smiling as well.
“No.” Ke’yoko giggled.
“Okay, sis, all I gotta say is be careful, ’cause if Ja’Rel finds out you communicatin’ with that nigga, it’s gon’ be curtains for both of y’all’s asses.”
“Anyway,” Ke’yoko said, twisting her lips and rolling her eyes. “You know what, I’m to the point where I’m startin’ not to give a fuck no more. I can’t half stomach Ja’Rel.”
“What he do now?”
“The usual. Stayin’ out all night, laid up with this bitch and that bitch,” Ke’yoko replied angrily.
Nadia just shook her head. She had been listening to her best friend complain about the same shit for the past seven years and had yet to do anything about it.
“Then the nigga gon’ hold me down on his dick so he could cum inside of me,” Ke’yoko continued to fuss.
“I thought you wanted to try for another baby.”
“I do, but I don’t want one by his ass. I gotta get away from him.”
Nadia was shocked. She’d never heard Ke’yoko talk about leaving Ja’Rel before today and she was in even more shock that as bad as she wanted a baby, she didn’t want one by her husband.
“Just know, whatever you decide to do, I gotcha back,” Nadia assured her.
“I know you do. Hang on, I got another call comin’ in,” Ke’yoko said, clicking over to the other line.
“Hello, sis?”
“Oh, wassup, baby brother?” Ke’yoko asked.
“Hey.”
“Hang on, let me get off the other line.” Ke’yoko clicked back over before Kailo could respond. “Let me call you back. This my brother.”
“A’iiiight. Don’t forget, ’cause I wanna know what all you and Ross talked about,” Nadia said.
“Okay, nosey.” Ke’yoko clicked back over to her brother. “Okay, I’m back,” Ke’yoko said to Kailo. “Wassup?”
“I was just calling to let you know that it’s almost summer break and I told you I wanted to come see you and Ka’yah,” he said.
“Okay, and?”
“And I was calling to see if it was still okay,” Kailo replied.
“Of course it’s still okay! Why wouldn’t it be?” Ke’yoko asked while taking a bite of one of her sandwiches.
“Okay, I was just making sure, that’s all.”
“When are you comin’?” Ke’yoko asked, anxious to see her baby brother.
“I’m flying out next Tuesday.”
“Okay, great. Do you need me to pick you up from the airport?”
“No, thank you. I’ll have a rental car while I’m in town,” Kailo said.
“Look at you all grown up, you drivin’ and shit,” Ke’yoko said, happy and sad at the same time because she was robbed of the chance to watch her baby brother grow up. “Okay, well, since you not comin’ until Tuesday, that’ll give me enough time to get the guest room together.”
“Okay, great.”
“I can’t wait to see you,” Ke’yoko said as she continued to smack on her food.
“I can’t wait to see you either, sis. Oh, before I go I need to ask a favor.”
“Wassup?” Ke’yoko asked.
“Is it okay if I bring a friend with me? He doesn’t want to go home for the summer either so I told him it would be okay to come to my favorite sister’s house with me,” Kailo said, laying it on thick.
“Favorite, huh? Whatever.” Ke’yoko laughed. “Is this friend your girlfriend?”
“No.” Kailo laughed. “Didn’t you hear me say he didn’t want to go home?”
“Oh, well, where do you know this nigga from? He don’t be stealin’, do he?” Ke’yoko asked.
Kailo couldn’t help but laugh. “No, sis, he doesn’t steal. He has more money than I can ever imagine having, and I know him from school, and he’s not a nigga.”
“Oh, well, what is he then?”
“He’s white,” Kailo answered.
“White?” Ke’yoko asked, surprised. “What you doin’ hangin’ wit’ a white boy? They’re weird as fuck!”
“Yeah, most of them are, but not Chad. He’s pretty cool.”
“Chad? That’s a straight white boy name,” Ke’yoko said.
Kailo busted out laughing. “Sorry his parents didn’t name him Tyrone, Jaleel, Jawaun, or Cephus.”
“Shut up, smart-ass.” Ke’yoko laughed too. “I hope he eats soul food. Just know I ain’t gon’ be makin’ no green bean casserole or no shit like that, you hear me?”
“Yes, I hear you,” Kailo said, shaking his head.
“Okay, well, I’ll get the other guest room together as well. I love you and will see you Tuesday.”
“Okay, sis, I love you too,” Kailo replied before hanging up.
Ke’yoko shook her head. She instantly became dizzy. This was the second spell she’d had this week. She had been meaning to make an appointment with her nurse practitioner, David, but never got around to it. If she kept feeling like this she would definitely have to get in to see him, but right now all she wanted to do was finish her sandwiches and quick; she was starving.
