I had all but given up. A lightning storm, a forest fire, an earthquake, and now a tornado?? This just wasn't right! Did someone in the development side of Roblox want me dead? What had I done to deserve this type of treatment?
I probably would have thrown in the towel right then and there had it not been for Pete. With a strong and commanding cry, he willed everyone to their feet, including me.
“We aren't going to despair and give up now guys!” He cried, his voice nearly overcome with emotion. “We've been through too much to surrender now! Let's get to this train station and get off of this cursed server!”
He was right. I had already been through so much, in both the past day as well as in the months past. To quit now would just be a shame. Drawing strength from Pete's impassioned cries, I pulled myself to my feet. The others in our group follow suit and together we began running towards Simpletown and the train hub that was there.
The hub thankfully wasn't too far from town and was instead located on the outskirts. That was the good news. The bad news was that the station lay directly in the path of the oncoming tornado! We were quite literally in a race to reach the station before the tornado did! Failing to get there first would mean being stranded on this server for a long time, perhaps forever!
Fortunately, though, we were moving quickly and happened to be close to the station than the twister. Upon reaching the hub we immediately set about finding a train that leads us out of this server in the fastest route possible. Our search was made easy since there was only one lone train even stationed at the hub!
“This is the one!” Pete shouted. “Let's climb aboard and get out of here! The tornado is nearly upon us! Pete was right, the storm was very close at hand, and its swirling vortex appeared even more menacing than I had imagined! What remained of our group climbed aboard and the bus driver took a vacant seat in the cockpit. I chose to accompany him, out of curiosity as to how a locomotive functioned.
“Fasten your seatbelts, folks,“ the driver shouted. “It's going to be a bumpy ride!!
After a few agonizing moments of the train firing it up, it finally roared to a stop and began to chug away from the scene. The train picked up speed quickly but was still cutting it very close to the tornado. The tornado was picking up speed too, and closing in fast behind us.
Suddenly, Sarah screamed. “The tracks! They're destroyed!”
Sarah was right. A portion of the track ahead of us was a tangled mess of metal. It seemed that the earthquake had done its job after all. I was sure we were only seconds from being derailed and then sucked up into the vortex of the tornado. But instead, Lady Luck smiled down on us finally. The tornado, with its intense swirling winds, was finally close enough to lift our little train into the air. But in doing so, we sailed gracefully over the twisted wreckage that had once been a railroad track. Once we were clear, the tornado began to shift away and head towards the inner part of the town, releasing us from its grip. When it did so the winds that had lifted us up and over the broken railroad ties ceased, and the train came down neatly onto the tracks on the other side of the wreck!
We were safe!
“I think we're going to make it everyone!” The bus-driver-turned-train-operator cried. “Only a few more feet and we'll be leaving this server!”
“And not a minute too soon!” I cried. “This is the last time I try and take a vacation here!
The bus driver looked over his shoulder and gave me a quizzical look.
“Vacation?” he said with surprise. “Did you not hear? They turned this server into a disaster simulator a month or so ago! Only a psychopath would come here for a vacation!”
I slapped my hand to my face and looked at Pete. He only smiled a sheepish grin and shrugged his shoulders.
“Hey,” he said. “At least we made it out alive!
