Wolfgang Wild is the creator of Retronaut: ‘hit records for archives’ (Financial Times), ‘enlightenment and wonder’ (Guardian), ‘literally rocks your brain’ (Fast Company). Fired for the last time in 2009, Wild started a blog of seemingly anachronistic photographs after his wife told him he was fundamentally unemployable. The blog took off, and he and his helpers published more than 40,000 images on Retronaut.com.
In 2014, Wild licensed Retronaut to the US-based site Mashable, and he continues to oversee the weekly curation and publication of strange and startling archive images, each chosen to show you ‘the past like you wouldn’t believe’. With 250K Facebook fans and named #20 on The Times list of ‘The 50 People You Should Follow on Twitter’, Wild has written three Retronaut books, the first with National Geographic, and curated two Retronaut shows, including a four-month exhibition in 2016 of New York historic panoramas, on 5th Avenue, New York City.
He lives near Oxford, UK, in an almost painfully quaint Cotswold village with his wife, Annie, and their two children.
Jordan J. Lloyd does coloring in for a living: ‘stunning’ (Daily Mail), ‘incredible and beautiful’ (Evening Standard), ‘the past brought to life’ (Guardian). His work has been commissioned by brands like Jim Beam, Indian Motorcycles and Surfer Magazine, and by a range of publishers including Time Life. He has been a guest speaker for Apple, Adobe and the British Film Institute. Lloyd collaborates with many archives and museums across the world, and his work has been exhibited in London, Dresden and New York. Hailing from Hong Kong and living in London, Lloyd studied architecture at the University of Sheffield. He also plays bass in punk band Black Radio and competes in roller derby.
