This year’s worldwide games
are so much fun to watch,
because my hurdle-leaping hero—
Félix Sánchez—is the winner
of the Dominican Republic’s first
Olympic gold medal!
Even though he grew up in San Diego,
he has dual citizenship with the DR,
just like I do with Costa Rica.
Maybe someday when I’m older,
I’ll be a famous athlete, too, running fast
and leaping sky high, crossing all sorts
of seemingly impossible barriers.
