Steaming edamame in the Instant Pot® is an ideal way to cook them. The pods get tender enough so you can easily strip them directly into your mouth with your teeth (yes, the proper way to eat edamame), but the beans retain an appealing crisp-tender bite. (Discard the pods.)

Place a vegetable steamer basket in the Instant Pot®; add the water to pot. Place the edamame in the steamer basket. Secure the lid on the pot. Close the pressure-release valve.

Select steam and cook for 2 minutes. When cooking is complete, use a quick release to depressurize.
SERVE
Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine the chives, oil, sesame seeds, sea salt, crushed red pepper, garlic powder, and black pepper. Lift out the steamer basket, allowing excess water to drip away. Transfer edamame to a bowl. Toss with sesame oil. Sprinkle with spice mixture; toss gently to coat evenly.
