Steel-Cut Oatmeal

It’s important to use a nondairy milk in this oatmeal because the natural sugars in cow’s milk will cause it to scorch. Top the cooked oatmeal with dairy milk if you like.

PREP TIME: 5 minutes

FUNCTION: Manual/Pressure (High)

CLOSED POT TIME: 20 minutes

TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes

RELEASE: Natural

SERVES: 4 to 6

PREP

Spray the inner pot of the Instant Pot® with cooking spray (this helps reduce foaming and aids in cleanup). Combine the water, milk, salt, and oats in the pot. Secure the lid on the pot. Close the pressure-release valve.

COOK

Select manual and cook at high pressure for 10 minutes. When cooking is complete, use a natural release to depressurize. (If oats are not tender, place the lid on the pot and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes.)

SERVE

If desired, stir in the butter, vanilla, cinnamon, sweetener, dried fruit, and nuts. Top with additional milk if desired.
