CHAPTER 25

We quickly made our way out of the pack house after ensuring that the safe house was properly guarded and secure. Our feet ate up ground as we marched through the pack grounds to the outer lining of the forest. We were flanked by Beta Johnson and Donovan as well as thirteen other guards. Including my personal bodyguards, Jason and Hendrix. Once we reached the rest of the pack guards Jonah and I walked around our team to the front facing Maliki and his crew. Pax, the leader of the A team was already in wolf form growling at Maliki and his crew. He was in attack mode. I reached down rubbing his fur to calm him some. He sniffed my hand visibly relaxing under my touch. I looked across the field and counted at least sixty-five wolves in front of us. I had a very good feeling that this was not his whole pack and he had more stationed somewhere waiting for his command. I wondered if they were able to mind-link like a regular pack. I asked Jonah this through our link but he did not think so. But the look on his face showed signs of uncertainty.

Maliki stepped out from his pack drawing Jonah and my attention. He was flanked by the same monster of a wolf that was with him in the woods the day I was ambushed. I think my eyesight was playing tricks with my mind. He looked much bigger then when I first laid eyes on him. He was as big as a mountain. “We meet again little wolf” He said with a sly smile. This caused Jonah to snarl at him and step a little in front of me.

What do you want, Maliki?” I asked stepping around Jonah.

Oh, so you've heard of me?”

We know exactly who you are” replied Jonah still snarling. “Now answer the question.”

Maliki threw a menacing glare Jonah's way before turning back to me. “Since you know exactly who I am. You also know exactly what I can do if I don't get my way.”

Yeah, have a fit like a toddler” came Beta Johnson from behind us. I had to hold in my snicker at that.

With a low growl he took another step forward followed by his mountain guard. We followed suit. “I want you to back off my land. You're moving into my territory. Now back off” he said with a growl.

This is not your land. As a rogue, you have no rights to any land. This is MY land. And right now you and your so called pack are trespassing. I don't want to fight. I want peace, so I suggest you leave while you still have the chance.” Stated Jonah agitated.

Maliki, we don't have to turn this into a confrontation. We can sit down and discuss this.” I said trying to reason with him.

No, I think I will stay. And I've decided that I will take YOUR land, YOUR pack and YOUR Luna.” Maliki stated coldly causing Jonah to growl deeply. After that statement he quickly stepped back along with the mountain of a guard.

Just as quickly one of his rogues that was almost as big as the mountain, ran from behind him charging across the field. I was pushed back by Jonah right as Donovan rushed pass us. He jumped up in the air with a great growl and shifted before landing with a thud to the ground. He jumped up again just as the slightly smaller mountain reached him. They collided in midair attacking each other. Fur was flying everywhere and a mixture of growls rung in the night’s air. I tensed up when the growls turned into whimpers. When they finally landed, Donovan was on top of the mini mountain with blood dripping off his muzzle. He had ripped out his throat. And I was in awe. I had no idea that Donovan was such a ferocious fighter. I knew you had to do pretty well to be Third in Command, but I was pleasantly surprised of his skills.

My awe was short lived. Once Maliki saw his mini giant fell he whistled and the rest of his pack went into attack mode. As one Maliki's mob of rogues rushed pass him towards us. Many of them shifted half way across the field.

Stay beside me” commanded Jonah. I rolled my eyes but gave a short nod before drawing my throwing knives. I mind linked with my team behind the safe-houses to confirm their position and was informed that they too were under attack. As suspected, Maliki had more rogues positioned around our pack grounds. A sinister smile pulled the corners of my mouth as the charging rogues came closer. The promise of violence was in the air. It caused the air to shift as my team, Jonah and his team awaited the clash of aggression heading our way. This was going to be fun.

I ducked when a skinny rogue with quick fist attacked. I came back with one of my knives right in his side before following it with another through his neck. My guards rushed pass me as they fought off the incoming rogues. Many of them shifted as well. Jonah stayed by me side putting down two rogues at once by smashing their heads together. They crushed like melons under his hands. While I was fighting one on one with a rogue that had impressive fighting skills. He landed a hit to my jaw that had me staggering a few feet but I quickly recovered and retaliated with a combo of my own. I punched him in the jaw right after kicking him in the abdomen. He doubled over then fell back to the ground. I jumped on him, grabbed him by the side of the head and gave a sharp twist. The satisfying crack made be smile with glee.

I looked around me to all of my other guards holding their own against the rogues. Jonah caught my eye just as he finished off a rogue. The glint in his eye showed me that he was enjoying the violence just as much as I was. I hate to say it, but seeing him fight and kill rogues was a turn on. His shirt was gone and his sweaty muscled back was glistening in the moon light. If I could I would have jumped him right in the middle of the war. We could make sweet love as the carnage of our enemy piled up around us. Instead I decided to cartwheel over his back and kick the rogue that was trying to sneak up on him from behind in the face. I finished him off with a side kick to the head that sent him flying across the field.

I turned around just as a rogue launched at me. I quickly shifted to the side and he went sailing over me. I turned pulling out one of my knives as he came at me again. I twisted around him, grabbing his neck, slicing his throat in one single swoop. I let him go and jumped over him as two more rogues came my way. It seemed as if many of the rogues were making their way towards Jonah and I. Thankfully Donovan and Beta Johnson notice this and surrounded us. My bodyguards Jason and Hendrix also came to our aid. They kept many of the rogues at bay. Fighting them off as fast as they came. There were so many coming that some were able to slip pass them but they quickly met their fate by Jonah's or my hands. I wondered what Maliki's plan was exactly. To keep us busy? I mind-linked Jonah my concerns. He agreed that that was a possibility. I tried to search the field for Maliki, but he was nowhere in sight. He had to be found and fast. I feared he could cause a lot of damage if he gets away. We couldn't afford this. Our people’s lives were on the line.
