Afterword

So many fans came up to me and told me that Vengeance needed a sequel. I was glad they loved the book so much, but I always said “thank you, but it’s done.” Then, one day, both this book and the next were suddenly in my head—ready to go. I had seeded things in Vengeance that I didn’t even realize I had done. (Sin and Wendy having slightly different looks was simply modeled on my dad and his brother!) I knew there was so much more to why Kolya Kurev had Sin’s parents murdered than what she believed (after all, she was only eleven when she thought she figured these things out.)

Nick was the glue that both holds Sin’s story together and also blows her world and her beliefs apart. I knew if Owen could find her, so could Nick. And while Lee, Owen, and Nick have their own stories here, Sin is definitely the center of this universe.

My cadre of ninjas stepped up and helped out again. They replied to messages at 3a.m. when I would ping them and say, “What if I was stuck with no weapons?” It was wonderful to have that reference and know I was getting it right! For Retribution, though, I also had a series of police officers who let me ride along on SWAT raids, run down warrants, and bust thefts. Another talked me through how to get Sin’s background through a real police background security check. (Whoa!) I owe many thank-yous to all the real life people who helped.

But Sin and Lee aren’t done yet. Buckle up and get ready for Justice! And if you loved Retribution and would leave a review, I’d really appreciate it. Reviews are hugs for authors. Thank you so much for reading.
