Avocados are a beautiful early food to introduce to tiny palates because they just love the creamy texture. This fruit (yes, it’s technically a fruit) is loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy fats. Warning: Avocado gets messy—but it’s OK—it’s all part of the fun of learning how to eat.
2 ripe avocados
Juice of 1⁄2 a lime*
Pinch of kosher salt*
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a medium bowl. Pass through a food mill or mash well with a fork or potato masher. Thin out with a little water if needed.
* Serve plain to babies ages four to six months; mix with lime juice and salt for older children.
