Chocolate-Dipped Pretzels

These crunchy, sweet, and salty treats are my top pick for class parties, bake sales, and holiday treats. Use chips or chopped bars of chocolate (whatever’s in the pantry); you can make a huge batch of these in less than 30 minutes.

8 ounces semisweet chocolate

8 ounces white chocolate

1 bag salted pretzel rods

Assorted sprinkles and colored sugar

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Place chocolate in a bowl and melt over a double boiler or in the microwave.* Pour melted chocolate into a tall drinking glass. Tilt the glass downward slightly, being careful not to spill the chocolate. Then dip and roll the pretzel in chocolate to coat; transfer to baking sheet and sprinkle with colored sugar or other desired decorations. Allow to set for at least 30 minutes or until chocolate has hardened. Store in cellophane or resealable plastic bags.

* If using the microwave, cook on high in 20- to 30-second increments, stirring well each time.
