Sometimes all you need is a fun name to make something more appealing. Inspired by one of my kids’ favorite movies, these burgers are portion-size for tiny hands but packed with muscle-building protein. Set up a burger bar at the kitchen table and let everyone pile on all their favorite fixings.
1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
Kosher salt and black pepper
2 slices American cheese, each cut into 4 pieces
8 whole wheat slider buns or potato rolls
Toppings: sliced tomato, lettuce, pickles, ketchup, mustard
Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Form meat into 8 burgers and season generously with salt and pepper. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side. Place on buns and top with cheese and desired toppings. The USDA recommendation for ground meat is 160°F to 165°F.
YIELD: 8 burgers
