Kisha

“Where are your morning after pills?” The clerk at the drugstore pointed, and I went off running down the aisle before Moe’s stupid ass came into the store. He came inside me like he was trying to get me pregnant, but I wasn’t going to let that shit happen.

On my way to the airport I had a thought what if Moe realized that I had sex with someone and things didn’t turn out like Lea’s situation? What if he found out it was Titus? Now that I thought about it Moe was nothing like Lea’s husband.

He wasn’t going to take shit just lying down. Moe had a temper, a crazy one and maybe if he found out things would really be over.

The pills were there on the top shelf. I grabbed one pack and a water. The cashier didn’t say a word as I got in line and paid, but when I stuffed the bag into my purse he looked at me sort of strange.

The sex was good, but who was I kidding. How was I going to explain to my kids that I left their Dad for the man they called Uncle Titus.

Walking back towards the car with nothing but a water in my hand I saw Moe was in the driver’s seat on the phone screaming. I couldn’t hear the words, but when I got inside his face was red and his hands were shaking.

“Baby, what’s wrong with you?”

“You fucking somebody else Kisha…?” He never said my whole name. Turning to him I was about to speak when he slapped me so hard across my cheek that I saw stars.

“Bitch, don’t lie to me.” I heard the sound of his hand hitting my skin echo through the car.

“NO... I didn’t.” The tears stung my eyes as I cried trying to explain. “Good... Cause you ain’t gonna have me out here looking like a fucking fool.”

“Don’t you ever put your hands on me.” I growled holding my cheek, but he only laughed putting his fist up to my head.

“Bitch, I’ll kill you. When a nigga calls me and said they saw my wife leaving with somebody I got a right to check it out.” We stared at each other so long I felt like time stood still. If I fought him I would definitely lose. I had been down that road before, and it would only end up with me hurt. Instead I looked away hoping he wouldn’t hit me again.

“I should drive this motherfucking car off a cliff.” This was what I meant. Moe wasn’t shit like Larry. Lea and Larry probably didn’t fight like me and Moe did, but I never told anyone about this. He had never hit me in my face. It was always wrestling or him throwing me down, but right now I knew he was pissed. I should have never done this shit; now I felt like my face was on fire.

This was going to be my life, wondering if Moe was mad at me or if he was going to find out what I did. I tried not to cry, not wanting him to have the satisfaction. Inside I wanted to fight

“I gotta go talk to Titus.” Moe said it out of nowhere. I didn’t ask him why, but he volunteered the information anyway.

“We getting sued for that house deal that we had together.” I felt sick to my stomach. “Gotta go give this nigga this money and get him to sign these papers.”

He rubbed his hand like he was hurting while my arms shook as I tried to drive and not cry.

“Then I gotta figure out who the fuck you lying to me about.”

I said nothing, riding along in silence I kept trying to think of the best way to do this. How did I break things off with Titus without him getting all crazy on me?

The way he told me not to fuck my own husband and that this pussy belonged to him was crazy.

Moe threw the car in park and ran in the house going straight up to our room. I crept behind him, just wanting to lay down and maybe die in my sleep, so I wouldn’t have to deal with this shit anymore.

“So, you cleaned up.” I didn’t say anything. Instead, I went to our bathroom and rinsed the blood off my lip. My face was already swelling near my eye, but I didn’t even have time to deal with that. He was in the room rustling around with things.

Coming out he had already pulled back the sheets, but I had taken care of that before I left. Taking off my shoes I laid down and pulled the sheets back up over me and leaving him standing there.

“I’m gonna figure this shit out.” I still didn’t say a word. I felt him staring at me, but when he got all excited like this the best thing for me to do was to shut up and let him be. He stood there for a while longer. I could feel his eyes on me, but I didn’t say anything.

“Yeah, bitch, you better lay down. Cause if I figure out you fucked somebody I’m gonna kill you and him.” He opened a few drawers grabbing something and storming out the room.

“Oh, and Happy Birthday.” He called out from the hall.

Some birthday surprise this was. Now I had to spend my day figuring out the mystery of who the fuck could have told. Happy Birthday to me.
