Robert C. Willging is a freelance outdoor and history writer whose work has appeared in Deer & Deer Hunting, The Boundary Waters Journal, Wisconsin Outdoor Journal, Wisconsin Natural Resources, High Country News, Turkey Call, WildBird, The Trapper & Predator Caller, Fur-Fish-Game, Wisconsin Magazine of History, Wisconsin Outdoor News, and other publications. His first book, On the Hunt: The History of Deer Hunting in Wisconsin was published by The Wisconsin Historical Society Press in 2008.
Willging holds a bachelor's degree in wildlife management from the University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point and a master's degree in wildlife sciences from New Mexico State University; he's worked as a wildlife biologist for the U. S. Department of Agriculture since 1987. An ardent sportsman, Willging frequently writes about Wisconsin's rich sporting past. He lives in Rhinelander with his wife and two children.
