Kate Naito, CPDT-KA, MS, is a professional dog trainer and the Manners Program Director at Doggie Academy in Brooklyn, New York. A former equestrian, Kate turned her attention to dogs after moving to Brooklyn in 2007. She has written for numerous animal-related publications both in print and online, including Petguide.com and Equine Journal.
Kate, a former college instructor, draws upon her background in education to create engaging group classes at the Brooklyn Dog Training Center to address everything from door dashing to sidewalk snacking. Her focus when both training and writing is to provide urban dog owners with force-free training techniques for the real world.
Kate is a rescue advocate and volunteer with a soft spot for senior and special-needs pets. She and her husband share their home with two Chihuahua mixes, Batman and Beans, with whom she participates in dog parkour and other sports.
