Antara Ibn Shaddad Ancestor of Mohammed Jabarah. An Ethiopian slave born in pre-Islamic times. Accounts of his battlefield exploits form part of classical Arab literature.
 
Mansour Bin Moussa Al Mazidi Maternal grandfather of Mohammed. A two-term elected official in Kuwait who raised money for Algerian fighters during their war of independence against France.
 
Mansour Jabarah Father of Mohammed. An Iraqi citizen, he is a realtor in Kuwait City and immigrated to Canada in 1994. He was vice president of the Masjid an Noor mosque in St. Catharines, Ontario.
 
Abdul Rahman Jabarah (alias Abu Tulha) Older brother of Mohammed. He was also a terrorist operative involved in the Al Qaeda cell that bombed Western housing complexes in Riyadh. He was killed in 2003.
 
Anas Al Kandari (alias Hamza) Best friend of Mohammed. He first went to Afghanistan to train in 1999 and returned for a second time the following year with Mohammed and Abdul Rahman Jabarah. He led a terrorist cell in Kuwait until his death in 2002.
 
Sulayman Abu Gaith A Kuwaiti school teacher and radical Sunni cleric who indoctrinated and recruited Al Kandari and the Jabarah brothers. He later became Osama bin Laden’s official spokesman and is reported to have been captured in Iran.
 
Ayman Al Zawahiri (alias The Doctor, The Teacher) The Egyptian doctor who is bin Laden’s right-hand man and ideological muse. The leader of the Egyptian Al Jihad and the second-in-command of Al Qaeda, he treated Mohammed when he came down with hepatitis.
 
Osama (Usama) bin Laden (alias UBL, the Prince, the Emir, Abu Abdallah, the Most Wanted) Al Qaeda leader and mastermind. Mohammed met him four times and pledged an oath of allegiance to him.
 
Mohammed Atef (alias Abu Hafs) Al Qaeda’s military commander. He personally viewed the surveillance tapes of targets in Singapore and approved the operation. He was killed in a U.S. missile strike in 2001.
 
Khalid Sheikh Mohammad (alias Mohammad the Pakistani, KSM) Trained Mohammed at his apartment in Karachi and sent him to Southeast Asia to oversee bombings. KSM is the mastermind of most of Al Qaeda’s deadliest plots, including the 9/11 attacks. He was captured in 2003.
 
Nurjaman Riduan Isamuddin (alias Hambali, Azman) Worked with Mohammed to organize bombings in Southeast Asia. The Indonesian-born terrorist was the only non-Arab in the leadership of Al Qaeda. He was a leading figure in Jemaah Islamiyah until his capture in 2003.
 
Fathur Rohman Al-Ghozi (alias Mike the Bombmaker, Saad) Worked with Mohammed to plan bombings in Singapore. An Indonesian and a leading figure in the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, he was killed in 2003.
 
Mike Pavlovic The Canadian Security Intelligence Service officer assigned to get Mohammed to talk upon his return to Canada. A former RCMP officer, he joined the Sunni Islamic extremist desk in Toronto in July, 2001.
 
James B. Comey The U.S. Attorney for the southern district of New York. He arranged to bring Mohammed to the U.S. and later brought terrorism charges against him. A veteran of several terrorism prosecutions, he was later appointed Deputy Attorney General of the United States.
