Fabric Requirements and Cutting
NOTE
Each stripe requires 2 pieces of fabric. If you want the look of continuous stripes, use 2 pieces of the same fabric for each lettered piece.
Make the Block
Make Columns 1 and 3
1. Sew together pieces A–F, aligning each piece ½˝ to the left of the piece above it.
2. Use the 60° markings on your ruler to cut 2 pieced strips, each 2½˝ wide. These are columns 1 and 3. figure a
Make Columns 2 and 4
1. Sew together pieces A–F, aligning each piece ½˝ to the right of the piece above it.
2. Use the 60° markings on your ruler to cut 2 pieced strips, each 2½˝ wide. These are columns 2 and 4. figure b
Finish the Block
1. Sew together the columns, matching the seams between the stripes.
2. Trim away the excess fabric to make a block 5½˝ × 8½˝. figure c
