Baby Shower Fresh Flower Crown: It’s a Boy!
Welcome a new baby boy with this fresh blue flower crown made of cheerful delphiniums. Blue hydrangeas are also a great option!
seasonal flowers of your choice
scissors or garden shears
4–6 feet of florist wire
20–24 inches of moss-covered wire
1: Begin by clipping the delphinium flowers from the bunch, leaving about 3 inches of stem on each.
2: Lay out all of your clipped pieces for easy access. For this crown, you may use anywhere from 20–40 blooms depending on how long or full you want the finished piece to be.
3: Place one of your clipped flowers against the moss-covered wire starting about 3 inches from the end.
4: Secure the clipped bloom to the moss-covered wire by pinching the two together with your thumb and index finger and wrapping them with florist wire two to three times in a spiral motion, moving from left to right.
5: Continue building a growing chain of flowers while using the moss-covered wire as a base. Add one to three blooms at a time, wrapping the florist wire around each group of stems to secure.
TIP: For more delicate stems, be careful not to wrap too tightly or they may tear.
6: As you secure each group of stems to the moss-covered wire, create a growing chain of flowers that looks like this from the bottom side.
7: Once you have reached the desired flower crown length, cut off the excess moss-covered wire, leaving enough length on either side to completely wrap the finished piece around the head.
8: Twist the ends of the moss-covered wire together to create a complete circle to finish the crown.
