BOHO BRIDE FRESH FLOWER HAIRPIECE
This simple floral hairpiece looks amazing pinned into an updo and can be either subdued or over-the-top, depending on the colors and types of flowers you choose to incorporate. For this particular project, I used a rare and special fresh flower appropriately called “Blushing Bride,” along with light pink globe amaranth for additional texture. To create your own custom look, substitute these with seasonal blooms of your choice.
TIP: This project can also double as a boutonniere!
2–4 assorted flowers of your choice
1–2 feet of florist wire
1 foot of florist tape
scissors
4–6 bobby pins to secure the finished piece into the hair
1: Snip the stems of each flower at about 2–3 inches from the base of the bloom.
2: Gather and pinch 3 larger blooms together with your thumb and index finger.
3: Continue to add in the flowers of your choice, styling them into a bundle and pinching all stems together at the base of the stems
TIP: To create a more bohemian look, place the flowers into the bundle at varying heights for a perfectly imperfect look.
4: Wrap florist wire tightly around the base of the gathered bundle approximately five to six times.
5: Cut the stems about 1-1/2 inches away from the base of the bundle of blooms, making them all the same length.
6: Cut 1 foot of florist tape and prepare to wrap the gathered stems together.
7: Wrap all of the stems together with the florist tape, moving from the base of the bloom down to the ends of the stems in a spiral motion to cover the entire bundle. The florist tape is very tacky and will adhere to itself and the stems very easily.
8: Once you have covered the stems with florist tape, cut off any excess tape. Use bobby pins to secure the finished piece into the hair.
TIP: You can also secure this piece on a lapel with straight pins if you choose to use it as a boutonniere.
