One of the Lone Island’s camouflaged critters, the Astari Night Avis is a light-shunning, nocturnal bird. Its entire body—skin, feathers, and guts—is translucent and colorless by day. When the sun GOes down, the Avis becomes an inky-black canvas of moon, stars, and comets. It has been said that any wish made on a shooting star spied in the tail feathers of an Astari Night Avis will come true. Of course, I am the originator of that saying and the only one who has ever seen such a thing, so maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part. But maybe not.
