Dear Reader,

I’m delighted to share this volume with a talented writer like Lee Tobin McClain.

Mixed Messages is an older romance of mine, first published in 1990. Taking another look at it today, I feel it’s still quite relevant in this age of celebrity obsession—maybe even more so—although it first appeared preinternet and pre–social media. The story features a renowned journalist (male), who’s interviewed royalty, presidents and movie stars, and an advice columnist with higher aspirations (female). Mark, who’d looked on Carly’s little advice column with scorn, soon learns that there’s more to her—and more to her writing—than he’d assumed. He also discovers that love is the great leveler...

I hope you’ll enjoy this return to what is now a distinctly earlier era. But remember, romance is forever!

With love,

Linda Lael Miller
