PROPAGATION
all about seeds, suckers, leaf cuttings and stem cuttings
You can of course buy plants, receive them as gifts or acquire them as part of a plant exchange, but what I enjoy most is producing my own “heirs” from a parent plant. This is particularly true if there’s a plant that I’m really fond of, and which I’m worried might not survive.
There are various methods for propagating from your plant collection: from seed, from leaf and stem cuttings and from suckers, or pups. Spring and summer are the best seasons for propagating. That’s when the plant is going at full speed into the growing season – perfect for making new baby plants!
GIFT IDEA
The best present to give and to receive? A home-made plant! You’ll also be making a gift of the time and love you have invested in the plant to someone you care about. The recipient is guaranteed to be even happier than you!
