CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Victor came in and looked around the room before he found Jonah sitting on the sofa. He walked over to the other man and on the way, he searched his friend to gauge his mood. It didn’t look good.

Jonah looked like shit today as if he hadn’t slept. This would make it hard for victor to convince him that they shouldn’t go after this troy bitch. He had a bad feeling about it. He needed to convince him to let it go. But he also knew Jonah had a hardon for this redhead, and who could blame him? She’d scarred him for life. Ruined his face, and he had these migraines often due to the old injuries.

He had to try though. He felt like the reaper was breathing down his neck and like he was being shadowed. Though, he couldn’t see anyone tailing him as he’d tried to several times.

“What did you find out?” Jonah growled. “Did you find her?”

“I haven’t seen her yet if that’s what you want to know,” Victor grumbled. “I checked out Redemption House last night but she wasn’t there. It was the middle of the night after all.”

“So you didn’t find her?” Jonah groused.

“Well, I did try to locate her. I drove out to the Bastards’ MC clubhouse but they had everything buttoned up tight.”

“Why would you go there?” Jonah demanded crossly.

“Cassie Tory is part of the MC. I think she’s married to Deke Tory, the Sin’s Bastards MC President.” There, he’d told him and maybe this would make him think.

“Fuck me!” Jonah swore out loud. Running his hands through his hair, he glared at Victor. After a moment or so, he growled, “I don’t really care who the bitch is married to. I want my revenge. The little slut damn near killed me ten years ago. I want her to feel the same pain she gave me.”

Victor sighed out loud. “Jonah, think for a moment, if you go after this woman and she does belong to the MC, they will declare war on you and they will come after you and everything you own. They won’t stop until they have destroyed you completely. You’ll be lucky if they let you live if you hurt her.”

“Oh, I’m gonna do a hell of a lot more than merely hurt her,” Jonah seethed. “I’m gonna watch her die slowly.”

Victor just stared at the other man in stunned silence. “They will kill us all if you do that.”

“Then I’ll go to hell knowing I sent her there first.” Jonah sneered. “But they have to catch me first now, don’t they? How the hell are they going to connect her to us in the first place?”

Victor shook his head. “You don’t think she remembers what you did to her friend?”

Jonah got to his feet and shouted, “What about what she did to me?” Spittle flew out of his mouth and landed all over Victor. “All I did was take a girl, she damn near killed me.”

Victor knew better than to remind Jonah of everything he’d done to that girl. He brutalized her and at the time, she’d only been fourteen years old. She should have been thinking about boys not catering to Jonah’s bizarre sexual demands.

Victor had learned a long time ago not to call him out when it involved girls he wanted but now his obsession might get him killed. “What do you want me to do today?” he finally asked.

“I want you to find this woman, Cassie Tory,” Jonah demanded. Walking over to the desk, he grabbed the brochure from last night and showed it to Victor. “Also this woman.” Jonah pointed to a second woman on the page. A blonde. “I want this woman too, but I don’t want her hurt. I want to be the one to give her pain.” He paused and then added, “I want them both together. Find them and bring them here to me and I’ll take care of the rest.”

Victor couldn’t answer instead he nodded and walked away leaving Jonah alone with his thoughts.

As he was walking down the hall to get to his car in the parking lot, Victor knew he should just walk away. Just get in his car and drive away but he couldn’t. And he knew he never would. He owed his loyalty to Jonah, right or wrong but he owed Jonah a lot. Although he wasn’t sure he owed the man his life and he knew if they messed with the Sin’s Bastards, they would both lose big time.

Victor drove out to the MC clubhouse again and hid his vehicle. Walking along the woods, he came in at a different angle. This time he was down past the clubhouse a ways and from here, he could see the back door.

He leaned up against a tree and began waiting for movement from the club. He reached into his pocket and brought out a slim cigar. Lighting it up, he inhaled the sweet cherry flavor of the tobacco.

The temperature went higher the longer the day drew out. About midmorning, he saw two women and a little girl come out the back door and walk close to where he was standing hidden by the trees.

When they got close enough to see their features, Victor was stunned. These were the very two women he was sent to find. He paused for a moment, this was either a turn of fate or a slap from karma. Only time would tell which one but he knew he had to take advantage of the situation and get them out of here.

Reaching t-for the gun he always had on his person he drew it out and quickly began twisting on the silencer. If he hoped to get away with the women, he had to move quickly and quietly. He had no interest in the little girl at all.

He watched and waited until the women got close enough before he stepped out of the shadows. When he pointed his weapon at the redhead, she caught the glare of his steel and came to a halt.

She pulled the tiny girl behind her and grabbed the blonde by the hand. When the blonde looked up to see what was wrong she gasped at the sight of Victor standing there holding a gun on the pair of them.

“What do you want here?” The redhead finally asked.

“I want the two of you,” Victor told her.

“Why is that?” the blonde asked.

“I have someone who wants to remake your acquaintances. This time with your blood shed I think.” He sneered.

“Who would that be?” the redhead asked.

“Jonah Rossi.”

She quickly looked over her shoulder to the back door of the clubhouse, praying someone was standing there. But no one was. The entire door yard was empty. She turned to face this unknown man holding the gun on them.

“I don’t suggest you scream or I might be forced to kill this sweet child hiding behind you,” Victor threatened. “I mean it would be a shame to shoot her don’t you think? The bullet could pass right through your body into hers. It might take the men inside the clubhouse a moment to hear the shot and come running but it would be long enough for me to disappear. That would leave your husband to watch the pair of you bleed out in his arms.”

“If you did that, Deke would hunt you and your sleazy boss down and take great pleasure in gutting you and watching you bleed out.” The red head snarled.

Victor smiled. “He has to catch us first, now doesn’t he? And he won’t know we’ve got you until it’s too late to stop him.”

The redhead grinned. “Are you sure about that? Deke might know more about you and your boss than you think.”

He paused. This girl had some guts. He had expected fear and she was smarting off instead. “Tell the baby to go for a walk and then we need to find a break in this fence line. I need to two of you on this side,” Victor suggested.
