An author is nothing without a great publisher. And a publisher is nothing without a great team. I have been very lucky to have had such teams behind each of the half-dozen books that now bear my name.
Working with three different publishers and six different editors over the past decade has been a delightful education. And that doesn’t even begin to count the number of copy editors, proofreaders, designers, salespersons, publicists, and, well, you get the idea!
For this book, I had my first experience working with a professional photographer — having filled that role myself in the past. What a thrill it was to see the vision and creativity of Carmen Troesser bring my recipes and ideas to life in a way that I never could have. The inspired vision of Carolyn Eckert and hard work of production designer Jennie Jepson Smith wove all the words and images together in a beautiful, approachable, and — I hope — inspiring orchestration. Speaking of those words, they were made clearer, more focused, and more concise thanks to my editor, Sarah Guare — thank you! And finally, the multifaceted work of publicist Anastasia Whalen helped to get me and the book out into the world.
It was a thrill to finally work with Storey Publishing — one of the two publishers I sent my first proposal to ten years ago. What a team. What a treat.
