The thermodynamics and the heat transfer equations were run for me by a registered, professional engineer by the name of Mr. Steve Scheller. Steve is the President and owner of a mid-sized firm of consulting Engineers named Mussett, Nicholas and Associates. I have been acquainted with “Mussett” since I was twelve years old. But that was before Scheller was born, or close anyway.

Scheller is a first rate engineer and one of my very few regrets from my time in construction was that I only had one project with him. But it was a ball-buster. One of the classes in engineering is called “strength of materials.” I think they should add “strength of character” because they will run into more problems there. Scheller is tops in that category and anyone with him on their project should count themselves lucky.

Then I wish to thank my old pal, Mr. Dan Gruesser for recounting to me incidents in the life of Mr. Jim Lanagan. Dan also reviewed my rough draft (missing five chapters in the middle) and made encouraging sounds, for which I was very grateful. It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

I also spoke with Ms. Laura Pritchard at Newtex on fire entry suits. She provided a couple of crucial pieces of information. Scheller steered me onto Newtex.
