Filigree Chandeliers

THE PALETTE OF IRIDESCENT AND PALE BLUE STONES creates an icy glow in these chandelier earrings. A quirky mix of shiny gems and opaque stones, these earrings are as easy to make as gluing stones to a base. The filigree piece can be a canvas for your wildest color combinations. Use a glue like Beacon’s Glass, Metal & More Glue that doesn’t harden immediately, giving you time to adjust the layout of each crystal as you go.

INSTRUCTIONS

Arrange the crystals

1 On the work surface, lay an oval filigree component on a piece of plastic (a small bead bag works great). Add a thin layer of glue to one of the pear-shaped stones and place it at the center of the filigree. The glue will seep through the holes in the filigree and the plastic will allow you to peel the filigree piece from the work surface while the glue is tacky. Repeat for the second earring.

2 Add glue to a square stone and place it above the pear-shaped stone. Repeat for the second earring.

3 Add glue to 4 of the black diamond and 2 of the crystal marquise stones and place them, alternating dark, light, dark, in a chevron pattern, on either side of the pear-shaped stone. Repeat for the second earring.

4 Add Beacon’s glue to one of the round milky iridescent stones and place it on the bottom edge of the filigree piece. Repeat for the second earring.

5 Add glue to the underside of one of the opaque blue rectangular beads and place it above the blue square stone.

6 Add the round milky light blue stone directly above the rectangular bead. Repeat for the second earring.

7 Let dry overnight.

Add French wires

8 Using the chain-nose pliers, open the loop in one of the French wires and attach it to the top of the oval filigree piece. Close the loop. Repeat for the second earring.
