Studded Leather Band

WITH GEOMETRIC GOLD STUDS AND A BLUSH LEATHER BAND, this studded leather bracelet manages to feel feminine. In place of a snap, the closure is a dainty buckle, making this a rocker-chic staple with some delicacy. Try layering several different bracelets that have different studs or leathers.

INSTRUCTIONS

Attach the buckle

1 Cut the leather about 21/2 in/6 cm longer than the length of the bracelet you’d like.

2 Using a leather punch, punch a centered 2 mm hole in the leather strap 6 mm from one end. With the right side of the leather strap facing up, thread the prong of the buckle through the hole and fold the leather over the center bar of the buckle. A

3 Holding the folded leather strap in one hand, use the leather punch to punch through both layers of leather in order to make two additional holes in the leather strap at once. These holes should be 5 mm from the first one. B

4 Thread the needle with the white thread and pull it up through the hole in both layers of leather. Tie a double knot around both layers of leather to secure the thread to the leather strips.

5 Pull the thread up through the hole and around both layers to the right, and then up through the hole and around both layers to the left. Repeat about 10 times to securely sew the buckle to the end of the leather band. Knot the thread, and trim any excess thread. C

Create adjustment holes

6 Make three holes at the opposite end of the leather band. Punch the first hole 6 in/15 cm away from the buckle, then punch a second hole 1/4 in/6 mm from the first hole, toward the end of the band, and punch a third hole 1/2 in/1 cm from the first hole. If needed, add additional holes, based on your wrist size.

7 For a finished look, with scissors, trim the end of the leather band into a smooth curve.

Attach the studs

8 By folding the leather band, find the center point between the buckle and the adjustment holes. Punch a centered hole 1/8 in/4 mm from the folded center, on the right side. Measure 1/3 in/8 mm to the right of the hole you just punched and punch another centered hole through the leather band. Repeat on the left side of the folded center point. You will have 4 holes total.

9 To attach a stud, push the back of the screw up through the suede side of the leather band, then screw on the pyramid stud.

10 Tighten and repeat with the remaining 3 studs.
