THE BRIGHT PINK, PEACH, AND MINT colors in this bracelet pack a tropical punch. The lush braid and slick brass cuff create an organic, surf vibe. Changing up the colors and width of the cuff will give this piece a whole different look. For a chic, everyday piece, use a mix of soft, tonal colors and a skinnier cuff, or try a solid primary color and an even wider cuff for a nautical look.
2 skeins of magenta embroidery floss
1 skein of peach embroidery floss
1 skein of orange embroidery floss
1 skein of mint embroidery floss
1 brass wrist cuff base, 15 mm wide
Ruler
Scissors
Super Glue
Make the braid
1 Reserve a 1-yd/1-m length of mint embroidery floss. Unwind all the other skeins of embroidery floss and fold each one in half, doubling the thickness. Add together, creating a bundle of thread skeins.
2 With the reserved mint floss, about 1 in/2.5 cm from the folded end, wrap the bundle of skeins several times. Tie a knot in the wrapped floss and trim the excess.
3 Separate the strands of embroidery floss into three sections, each with a mix of colors. Braid the sections together until you have a braid long enough to cover the brass cuff.
4 Wrap the other end of the braid with more of the reserved mint floss, tie a knot, and trim the ends of the braid, leaving a 1-in/2.5-cm tail.
Attach the braid
5 Center the braid on the cuff and add a small dab of Super Glue in several places along the top side of the cuff to attach the braid.
6 With the remaining reserved mint floss, wrap the braid to the cuff at the ends, covering the two spots where you’ve already wrapped it. Triple-knot the wrapped floss on the underside of the cuff and trim the excess. Dot the knot with a dab of Super Glue for extra security. Let the braid end flow for a beach-ready look.
