NECKLACES

There is a reason humans have been making necklaces for longer than we’ve been writing. Sitting close to the heart, they are inherently personal. A necklace frames your face, becoming the centerpiece of an outfit. To elevate whatever we put on that morning, we keep a selection of necklaces at home and at work to throw on when heading to a meeting or out for dinner.

Necklaces are excellent vehicles for incorporating nontraditional and unexpected materials—the projects included in this section use clay, fabric, rope, stones, reworked vintage jewelry, and thread. Master a few basic necklace silhouettes and soon you’ll be mixing and matching materials to design new styles.
