A NECKLACE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE OVERSIZE or covered in crystals to make a statement. These beaded loops are playful and sculptural, but deceptively simple to make with just some fishing line and round beads. Make it your own by playing with the size of the beads and the loops. For a fun, casual look, pair this piece with a comfortable T-shirt and well-worn jeans.

Create the loop chain
It’s easiest to work from the center loop outward. Cut a 12-in/30.5-cm length of monofilament, and thread it through the needle. Using the needle and monofilament, string the 8 light blue round beads and the 1 black diamond rondelle finding. Knot the ends of the monofilament together into a triple knot, creating a circle out of the beads. Trim any excess monofilament. A
Cut a second 12-in/30.5-cm piece of monofilament, and thread it through the needle. Using the needle, string 11 of the aqua round beads and 1 of the crystal rondelle findings onto the monofilament, and then with these 12 strung beads, create a loop through the first (center) circle. Triple knot the monofilament and trim any excess. B
Repeat step 2 on the other side of the light blue (center) bead circle with the remaining 11 aqua beads and with 1 of the crystal rondelle findings.
Cut a third 12-in/30.5-cm piece of monofilament. String 11 of the 12-mm hunter green beads, and loop the string through one of the aqua beaded circles, pulling the loop to the outside. C
Repeat step 4: String the remaining eleven 12-mm hunter green beads through the opposite aqua bead circle, pulling the loop to the outside.
Cut a 12-in/30.5-cm section of bead-stringing wire. Thread one strand of the small (8-mm-dia.) hunter green beads onto the wire. Add a gold crimp bead to one end of the wire, crimp it with the chain-nose pliers, and connect it to a medium jump ring.
Thread the other end of the bead-stringing wire through one of the 12-mm hunter green bead loops, connect it to the same jump ring with a second crimp bead, and crimp it with the chain-nose pliers, creating a large double strand of 8-mm beads that loops through one end of the 5-circle chain.
Repeat steps 6–7, creating a second large loop of 8-mm hunter green beads on the opposite side of the 5-circle chain.
Connect the spring ring clasp to a jump ring on one side of the necklace and connect the gold chain to the other side.
