A woman was fasting on St. Mary Magdalene’s Day (July 22) with bread and water. While she slept, the holy Mary appeared to her saying that she would not receive forgiveness through fasting if she didn’t confess her sins because the fasting pleased neither God nor her as long as she kept her sins to herself.
The woman then went to confession and was saved.
