CHAPTER 31

Richard approached Jaclyn’s father at his table at Del Frisco’s and extended his hand. “Everett, it’s really good to see you again.”

Everett set down his menu and stood to take Richard’s hand, giving it a hearty shake, and beamed while patting his shoulder. “Richard, my boy, it’s great to see you again. You’re welcome to join me while I wait for a business associate. He should be here in a few minutes.”

As Everett took his seat again, Richard sat down too. “Actually, sir, I’m the associate you’re meeting.”

Everett sat back, his welcoming expression gone in an instant. His eyes narrowed. “You work for Black Technologies?”

Richard set a thin binder before Everett, then tugged up his blazer sleeves and leaned his elbows on the table.

“I am Black Technologies. The world knows me as Davis R. Black, but my close friends call me Richard.” He took off his glasses, carefully collapsing them, and set them on the table. “And I’m glad you called. We have a lot to discuss.”
