Confession: I’ve always wanted to write a rock star romance.
But I knew if I did it (1) it probably wouldn’t feel like any other rock star romance out there, (2) it couldn’t be about the bougie lifestyle, it had to be about basic human crap we all deal with, (3) it needed a quirky heroine who was, in the words of one of my readers, ‘flawed but not broken’.
I planned it out in 3 parts over more than 2 years because I didn’t want to focus only on the music, or the family drama, or the tour. I wanted to show the ups and downs of Haley and Jax’s life. I wanted this book to be about how at the end of the day, we get to make our own choices, even when it feels like we don’t.
That beautiful truth is something I can write books about all day long.
We get to decide how we think, how we feel, how we act. And we can’t control the universe, but we control who our friends are, how we spend our time, whether we make ourselves vulnerable, and the stories we tell about our lives. The parts we’ve lived, and the parts yet to come.
It also means we don’t have to have a ‘perfect’ past, we don’t need to be famous, or rich, we just need to decide how we want to show up every moment of every day.
Thank you for spending part of your day with Jax and Haley.

Piper
