SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING VICE PRESIDENT

For a man who prided himself on staying fit, a quick morning swim turned into a national tragedy for Vice President Steven Turner.
Cancelling appointments the day before his disappearance, Vice President Turner told his personal assistant that he was catching up with an old friend at Cape Hatteras.
The next morning his towel was found on the beach, goggles and snorkel washed up nearby.
All searches have failed to find any sign of the Vice President. No witnesses saw him enter the water in the early hours of the morning.
As the weather is expected to worsen today, the search will continue for as long as possible, but so far there has been no trace of Vice President Turner who has now been missing for nearly 22 hours.
Seven Vice Presidents have died in office; the last was James S. Sherman in 1912.
