Resources for Men

I have included some books and websites here that will help men and their supporters increase their knowledge about how to cope with being male in the twenty-first century.

RECOMMENDED BOOKS

Christina Hoff Sommers, The War Against Boys:

How Misguided Feminism Is Harming Our Young Men, New York: Simon & Schuster, 2001.

This book gives a good overview of the problems that boys are having in education. If you have a son in the school system, this is a good book to give you an idea of what your child might be dealing with as a boy or young man.

Warren Farrell, The Myth of Male Power, New York: Simon & Schuster, 1993.

This book will help you understand in more detail why men don’t actually have the kind of power that feminists claim.

Warren Farrell, Women Can’t Hear What Men Don’t Say: Destroying Myths, Creating Love, New York: Tarcher, 2000.

This is a good relationship book to get some tips on how to communicate more effectively with your wife or significant other.

Richard Driscoll, You Still Don’t Understand, Knoxville, Tenn.: Westside Psychology, 2009.

This is a great book on the differences between men and women in relationships and can help the reader understand how to cope with angry or manipulative women.

Stephen Baskerville, Taken into Custody:

The War Against Fathers, Marriage, and the Family, Nashville, Tenn.: Cumberland House Publishing, 2007. Baskerville is a political scientist who describes the totalitarian divorce industry in the United States that abuses parents and children, runs rampant over civil liberties and is accountable to no one.

Paul Nathanson and Katherine K. Young, Legalizing Misandry: From Public Shame to Systemic Discrimination Against Men, Montreal: McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2006.

This book gives a detailed overview of the discrimination men face in our society.

Mystery’s The Pickup Artist: The New and Improved Art of Seduction, New York: Villard, 2010, or Neil Strauss’ The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists, New York: It Books, 2005.

Both of these books are good if you need some tips and understanding of how to date and pick up women. They are especially good for men who are shy or need a boost of confidence when approaching women.

Jim Macnamara, Media and Male Identity:

The Making and Remaking of Men, New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2006.

This is a terrific study looking at the negative portrayal of men in the media.
