Smoky Navy Beans Split Pea Soup

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Serves: 4-6 servings

Ingredients

5 cups water

1 cup split peas

1 medium (diced) sweet potato

3 bay leaves

½ cup navy beans, dried

¼-½ cup nutritional yeast, or as necessary

½ tsp liquid smoke

Salt and pepper, or as necessary

Method

1. Add liquid smoke, bay leaves, navy beans, split peas, sweet potato and water into the pressure cooker pot.

2. Place the lid over the pressure cooker, secure and set steam release handle/vent to "sealing". 

3. Cook for 20 minutes on high pressure.

4. After cook time has been reached, let the pressure cooker pressure release naturally until the floating valve (metal pin) drops down.

5. Open the pressure pot lid.

NOTE: Make sure pressure has been released before opening the lid of the pressure pot.

6. Add the pepper, salt and nutritional yeast into the pressure pot and stir until combined.

7. Check for seasoning and amend as necessary.

8. Serve and enjoy.
