CHAPTER 49

THE VERY NEXT NIGHT, Operation Bumper Billboard turned out to be a total success. Except for the fact that they’d been chased by a pit bull —and a really angry man carrying a Louisville Slugger. But by the time they got back to Pancake’s house, they’d plastered multiple oversized bumper stickers on every car and truck parked on the driveway or on the street in front of Kat’s, Alexa’s, Giovanna’s, Zattora’s, Skirt’s, and even Wolfe’s house.

The bumper stickers they’d printed were really 8.5" x 11" adhesive sheets —with a bright yellow background and bold black letters for maximum impact. Now there would be about fifteen vehicles driving around town with a wonderfully inappropriate message on their bumper.

I’M a PROUD PARENT of a COWARDLY BULLY

at SOUTHFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL.

GOT a PROBLEM WITH THAT, DOGFACE??

“Holy Javelinas.” Pancake shook his head. “I’m sweatin’ like a pig. The last time I had this much fun was like, never.”

Hudson smiled. “Operation Bumper Billboard will draw some nasty attention to our friends on the blacklist. Great night.”

“I know you’re hoping this will stop them,” Pancake said. “But they don’t give up that easy.”

Hudson nodded. “Neither do we.”
