CHAPTER 9

MAGGIE SAT IN HER SEVENTH-PERIOD CLASS, but her mind was still in the cafeteria. She knew Hudson would be trouble the moment he sat at their table. He may have been trying to stay under the radar, but the Wolfe Pack was always looking for fresh meat. Homeschooled-Hudson didn’t have a clue as to what he’d just gotten himself into.

But he surprised her when he helped Pancake. She loved how Hudson messed with Zattora and Skirt, but it scared her too. Was he really just another Wolfe?

Pancake might be desperate for another friend, but Maggie wasn’t. She could thank Jo for that. And Maggie didn’t really know anything about Hudson. She shouldn’t trust him. It was the smart thing. The safe thing. She didn’t need another friend who turned into a bully. What she needed was to keep some distance between her and Hudson.

Decision made. And it was a good one.

Then why did she already have doubts?
