ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Foster Ockerman Jr. is a Lexington, Kentucky native and seventh-generation Kentuckian. He is a practicing attorney as well as a historian and the author of five histories including the most recent history of Lexington. His law practice of more than forty years has covered business, real estate, nonprofit organizations, health care and equine law. In addition, he is president and chief historian for the Lexington History Museum, Inc. In 2017, he was historian for the Emmy Award–winning documentary Belle Brezing & the Gilded Age of Lexington, and he is host and historian for the new television documentary series Chronicles—The Kentucky History Magazine. He is also a USSF-certified soccer referee and a former rock-and-roll disc jockey. He is married to Reverend Martina Ockerman (United Methodist Church), and they have two daughters and a grandson.
