What’s Your Next Move

“To an end?” you ask.

“Yes, sir. This morning, I went to my work, but the door was locked. A card was tacked onto the middle of the panel. Here it is, and you can read for yourself.”

Mr. Wilson holds up a piece of white cardboard the size of a sheet of paper. It reads: THE RED-HEADED LEAGUE IS DISSOLVED. June 27, 1890.

You study this announcement until the comical side tops every other consideration. You burst into a roar of laughter, and Watson does the same.

“I cannot see that there is anything funny,” cries your client. “If you can do nothing better than laugh at me, I can go elsewhere.”

Mr. Wilson stands to leave, and part of you wishes to let him go. At that moment, your friend Watson leans over and whispers into your ear. “His story is ridiculous. I sense a trap. Your life may be in peril, Holmes.”

You cannot help but agree. Mr. Wilson’s tale is a bit far-fetched. Could this be a trap set by Moriarty? Should you have this man arrested at once? If you do, you may be rescuing yourself from danger, or you might be missing one of the greatest mysteries of your career. What will you choose to do?
