After putting so much into the first four Afterlife Calls books, I thought this one would be easier to write. Oh, how wrong I was. It’s hard to admit when an idea doesn’t work sometimes, but my original plan for The Mean Girl’s Murder didn’t, which meant I had to strip it back to basics and start all over again. The finished second version is what you’ve got in front of you. If it hadn’t been for the support of certain people, and my always supportive readers, I never would’ve gotten to this point.
Chelle, thank you for your pep talks and moral support over the years. I still can’t believe we’ve known each other for as long as we have. Your kind words, sounding board, and skincare discussions light up my day. (And nights if I’ve got insomnia.)
Alexa, what would I do without you? You know what it’s like to be an indie author, and we bond over the ups and downs of being self-employed while dealing with our pasts, presents, and futures. It’s a challenging ride but having you to listen without judgment is more important to me than you’ll ever know. You also understood what I was trying to do/say with this book and series, and using you as a sounding board really helped me bring that vision to life.
Ellie, you’ve always been in my corner, cheering me on. You really help on those days when I’m not sure if I can keep going.
Millie, you’re such a cute little ball of fluff and you always make me smile. All right, except for the days when you refuse to walk. But our family walks are some of my favourite times with you and Carl.
Carl, you’ve been by my side for so long now I’m not sure I know what I’d do without you. You keep me upright when I feel like I’m going to fall. You’re my best friend, my soul mate, my life partner. I love you.
