THE CAST OF PRIMARY characters is large. Some readers may find this list useful.
THE RETREADS:
TOMMY SCARRED WOLF – A Special Forces veteran who has since worked in various branches of law enforcement. Previously participated in covert operations in Sudan and Sumatra (Indonesia) as part of a small paramilitary unit.
DWIGHT CAVARRA (“ROCCO”) – A former SEAL Team commander who retired from the Navy and opened a tactical shooting school and supply business. After recruitment by the CIA, led the covert mission in Sudan. Also participated in the unsanctioned operations in the Malacca Strait and on Sumatra.
JOSHUA RENNENKAMPF – SF veteran who, as a civilian, has gone Galt. Harbors strong anti-government sentiments. Was instrumental in the success of the Indonesian mission.
JACOB McCALLUM (“MAC”) – Delta Force veteran, and survivor of the above-mentioned paramilitary operations. Increasingly tribal, distrustful of whites, and hostile toward Americans with patriotic inclinations.
CARLOS BOJADO – A retired Force Recon Marine and participant in the Sudan mission. Participated in the major War on Terror deployments almost from start to finish.
LEON CAMPBELL (“CANNONBALL”) – A sniper who served in the Airborne, and veteran of the paramilitary operations in Sudan, Sumatra and the Malacca Strait.
THE INSIDERS:
LAWRENCE BERTRAND – A behind-the-scenes administrator. He's been on the classified payroll of various secretive agencies, but his mission has remained the same: provide stimulus for the public to accept policies and change that they wouldn't ordinarily tolerate.
JASON MACMILLAN – An ambitious, apolitical professional who has climbed the ladder from state-level law enforcement to working directly for Lawrence Bertrand. Now a planner and supervisor of covert “black” operations.
JADE SIMMONS – Also works directly for Bertrand. Made the transition from academia to (clandestine) government programs after a career building on the post-war work of German scientists.
DEANGELO JEFFRIES – A field operative for the C.I.A. He does some unofficial networking and recruiting on the side in preparation for a race war he believes inevitable. The system is useful for taking down his people's enemies, and providing him a paycheck, but a day is coming when his use for it will end.
JUSTIN – A tech-savvy NSA employee hard at work on a data mining project. What he does and sees might be disturbing for some, but he has no interest in politics. What interests him is keeping a career with job security in a train wreck of an economy.
THE TEXANS:
JOE TASPER – A guy who minds his own business and tries to make an honest living, but frequently suffers encounters with agents of the police state.
KEN FOWLER – somebody who is tired of walking on eggshells and playing along with institutionalized bigotry against those who are allegedly privileged.
ARDEN THATCHER –White and proud of it. He's always wanted to make a difference for the Aryan race, and his opportunity is at hand.
CLAYTON P. VINE – A an apolitical brigadier general forced to retire for political reasons. The ignominious end to his career has inspired a self-education about the change sweeping the country, making collateral damage of lives like his.
BILL – A USMC veteran who returned home to a country he is starting not to recognize. From his perspective the future looks grim, but he is determined to prepare for it as best he can.
JIMMY – Bill's best friend who also spent the cream of his youth on deployment. Now he wonders just what the sacrifice was for. Together, he and Bill devise contingencies, warily observing a system that evidently considers them potential enemies.
THE ABSENTEE-SHAWNEE:
JENNIFER SCARRED WOLF – A human trafficking survivor with a law degree, recently convinced that the criminal justice system has little to do with justice, but sure is criminal. Her father was first framed for murder, then was himself murdered. She has abandoned the notion that either a positive attitude or burying her head in the sand will ensure a bright future.
RACHEL WHITE BIRD – An officer of the Tribal Police on a special assignment from the Chief. She will accomplish said mission one way or the other, even if she has to get creative.
GUNTHER SCARRED WOLF – Tommy's firstborn and a participant in the mission to Indonesia. He is living his life and chasing his dreams as best he can, with the constant awareness that life as he knows it could end at any time.
TAKODA SCARRED WOLF – Tommy's second son, an alpha dog with a chip on his shoulder nonetheless. The world may end tomorrow or it may not, but he is going to crush it either way.
CARL SCARRED WOLF – Tommy's youngest, who lives under three giant shadows. With anyone else for a father and brothers, he likely wouldn't recognize a universe larger than one big enough to contain friends, girls, video games and his dirt bike.
UNCLE JAY – An Air Cavalry veteran from the Vietnam era who is normally content to let his nephew Tommy handle the dangerous stuff. But deep down, he's still a soldier.
THE CITIZENS:
GARY FRAM – A veteran, leader, and patriot. If he had a million men who shared his convictions, he would take the government from the elitists and give it back to the people, to whom it rightly belongs.
TERRANCE HANDEL – A USMC veteran with huge lapses in his long-term memory and occasional, disturbingly random compulsions. What memories are intact seem to be getting triggered a lot lately, though.
ROY GARBER, JR. – A rancher whose father simply wanted to put a duck pond/water hole on his own property, at his own expense. Now his father has been pushed to the breaking point and Roy Jr. finds himself in an intense confrontation with the federal government.
WILLIE MAE HARRIS – A victim who has been deprived of her fair share for much too long. But long-needed change is bringing retribution within reach.
