I think it’s fair to say that after fifty-plus books, Tangle of Lies was the most challenging novel I’ve written to date and I have many people to thank. My agent, Stephany Evans and the wonderful team at Tule Publishing including Jane Porter, Kelly Hunter, Cyndi Parent, Mia Gleason, Meghan Farrell, Marlene Roberts-Vitale, Lee Hyat, and Nan Reinhardt. I’d also like to thank my team at Waxcreative, most especially Emily Cotler, Jennifer Zapf, and Judyth Collin.
A big thanks to my husband, Mike Fitzpatrick, who joined me on my research trip into the Monashee Mountains. I based my fictional town of Tangle Falls on a very real place: Greenwood, British Columbia. I found their museum, which details the city’s history, including the years it was an Internment center for the Japanese during World War II, to be very interesting and helpful. It’s well worth a visit if you ever find yourself traveling in that area.
Numerous people helped with my research for this book. I want to acknowledge my gardening consultant, Allison Van Nest, who has since, very sadly, passed away. For matters regarding the law and policing, I thank Corporal Phil Peters from the Midway Detachment of the RCMP as well as Sergeant George Simpson with the Polson Police Department in Montana.
