Chapter 19

Ella was rehearsing with her colleagues for her forthcoming musical concert. But today she was feeling a little dizzy. She hoped this was because she hadn’t slept well the previous night.

Holding the violin felt heavy. Way too heavy for her slender arms. She tried to play, but the notes weren’t sounding right. As if she had forgotten how to play.

“Ella! Are you alright?” asked her music teacher.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” mumbled Ella.

She resumed playing. The notes were off tune once again. She felt her breathing becoming heavy. Her stomach was burning. Her face had become pale.

Her chest pained.

“Ella! You don’t look okay,” said the teacher.

Ella wasn’t listening. The teacher’s voice sounded muffled. Her vision blurred. She didn’t realise what was going around her. She felt as if she was transported to a new world.

“Ella! I’m speaking to you,” said the teacher. Her tone seemed worried.

“Huh...” said Ella.

“I think you should call it a day. You don’t look well,” said the teacher.

Ella nodded, and she started to pack up.

The teacher looked at her again. She seemed to have lost quite a bit of weight in the past couple of months.

Ella was about to leave when she saw bright lines appear in front of her eyes. Something wasn’t right. She sat down and closed her eyes.

And when those bright lines were gone, she slowly got up and left.
