All-Natural Makeup-Removing Wipes
1 paper towel roll, cut in half (You’ll want to do this with a large serrated knife. Leave the paper towels on the roll and “saw” them in half, creating two short paper towel rolls. Remove the cardboard tube.)
1 small, round resealable plastic container that will fit the width of the paper towel roll
2 cups distilled water
1 tablespoon unrefined virgin coconut oil
1 tablespoon jojoba oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
There’s no denying the ease and convenience of makeup-removing wipes, but most brands on the market contain lots of unsavory ingredients, and I’ve bought plenty that don’t even remove makeup very well! Making your own makeup-removing wipes is an incredibly fun craft that also provides you with the peace of mind that your product contains zero harmful chemicals—and these totally pulverize any stubborn mascara or liner.
Melt coconut oil in double boiler or until liquefied (about 15 to 25 seconds) in the microwave. (If you don’t have a double boiler, you can simply combine the two ingredients in a Pyrex measuring cup and then place it in a saucepan containing a small amount of water and heat until the wax liquefies.) Pour coconut oil and all liquid ingredients into resealable plastic container. Place the lid on the container and shake to combine ingredients.
Open the container and place one half roll of paper towels inside, allowing the paper towels to soak up the liquid. It may need to “marinate” for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the roll to become completely soaked.
Once the roll is completely soaked, push it down so it fits entirely in the container. Place lid on the container and store in a cool, dry place.
To use, wipe dry face with wet wipes, concentrating on the areas with the most makeup application. Rinse or follow with a cleanser if necessary.
