Olive Oil–Lemon Clarifying Shampoo

¹/₂ cup distilled water

¹/₂ cup liquid castile soap

1 tablespoon glycerine

Juice of 1 lemon

2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil

10 drops lemon essential oil

Sweat, poor water quality, product buildup and flaky scalp are all reasons to clarify your hair. It’s important to cleanse the hair of residue, but you don’t want to strip it entirely of its natural protective oils. The lemon in this recipe gently cleanses the scalp and hair of debris, and olive oil ensures hydration and nourishment.

Combine all ingredients into a plastic squeeze bottle, and shake gently until combined. To use, start by rinsing hair thoroughly; let the water of your shower do as much work as it can to remove existing product residue. Work a generous amount of this shampoo between your hands to create a lather and massage into scalp, letting it penetrate down the length of your hair. Rinse thoroughly, and follow with conditioner.
