Conditioning Styling Hair Pomade
1/8 cup beeswax
1/4 cup shea butter
1 teaspoon unrefined virgin coconut oil
2 tablespoons jojoba oil
2 tablespoons arrowroot powder
10 drops essential oil of your choice
Pomade is great for defining and holding the hair as well as taming flyaways. I love this recipe because not only does it accomplish the aforementioned, it conditions hair at the same time.
Melt beeswax and shea butter in a double boiler set over low to medium heat. Stir in coconut oil and remove from heat. In a separate small bowl, combine jojoba oil with arrowroot powder. Combine the arrowroot paste with the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil, and stir in essential oil. Transfer pomade to a blender and blend on low speed until smooth. Pour into a resealable tin or small jar and let cool overnight.
To use, work a small amount of product between your palms and use to style short hair, smooth down flyaways, work mid-shaft down to add texture or apply to ends to disguise split ends and dryness.
