Coconut Shine Serum

2 tablespoons unrefined virgin coconut oil

1 tablespoon castor oil

1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil

10 drops rose essential oil

I’m addicted to shine serums; I love how healthy they make my hair look. Unfortunately, most serums on the market are mostly comprised of silicone, which coats the hair with plasticizers and gives only a temporary appearance of healthy hair, in addition to suffocating the scalp and causing unwanted buildup. This recipe not only gives you the shine you want but improves the health of your hair.

If solidified, melt coconut oil in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir coconut oil, castor oil, vitamin E oil and essential oil together, and transfer to a resealable small bottle or container.

To use, rub a couple of drops between your palms and rake through damp hair. You can also press it onto dried, styled hair for added shine and to reduce flyaways.
