It’s amazing how willing people can be to attend church or a Bible study when they have the opportunity to go with someone rather than to go alone. Knowing this, invite someone to church or a Bible study, and be sure to offer a ride as well. Let your children create an invitation for your intended guest. A good example is found in the templates section of the book (this same idea can be used for any church function, including a Bible study or Sunday School). Make it a family affair, and encourage your guest to accompany your family to church every Sunday.
Remember that some individuals may decline an invitation to a Bible study if they don’t have the funds to purchase the accompanying book or materials. Assure your guest that he or she will not have to pay anything, as you’ll find a way through donations or scholarships to provide the book for him or her.
Up for Discussion
What was the response of the person you invited to church? How many friends can you list who don’t go to church? Why do you think attending church is important? Is your youth group or Sunday School class planning a special function to which you could invite a friend or a neighbor? Why is spending time in prayer necessary before extending an invitation like this one?
Read Josh. 24:15. Why is it important that those in your home serve the Lord? In what ways can you serve Him?
As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.
